Ensure:

  • The company is registered at The Building Industry Bargaining Council (BIBC).

  • The company has sufficient liability insurance.

  • They are willing to provide contactable references.

  • They are willing to give written estimates.

  • They offer guarantee on workmanship and offer product warranties.

  • Safety is a priority.

Then:

  • Get at least three roofing contractors to look at the job.

  • Meet the contractor in person and ask each to give advice on materials and process they would suggest to solve your problem.

  • Ensure they have a cleanup strategy to remove or dispose of old roofing materials.

  • Agree on a timeline.  Talk through estimated completion dates, ordering materials, and any prep work required.

  • Support local businesses.

Never automatically take the cheapest option.
